How do these headphones work?

The Conduit Motions work by vibrating sound waves through your skull bones into your cochlea.

By transmitting the sound this way, this leaves your natural ear canal open to the sounds of your surroundings. When you wear the Conduit Motions, you'll notice that it sounds like you have a stereo system... inside of your head. And while you're hearing your music, audio books, and podcasts, you can still hear the people and things around you. That's because your cochlea is absorbing sound from two channels now, one from the Conduit Motions, and the other from your ear drum.

Is this technology safe?

Yes! In fact, bone conduction technology is a 60 year old proven technology. It was first used in hearing aids in the 1940's, and it's still used in hearing aids to the present day. That's 60 years of results with no health effects. They're also even safer than normal earphone technology. Normal earphone technology blasts the music right into your ear drum, which puts you at risk of hearing loss due to the beating that your cochlea gets when the volume is too high.

Bone conduction on the other hand has to pass the sound through your skin and bone, which acts as a natural buffer and modulator to the sound, making it much safer for your cochlea.

If you really want to get deep into the basis of bone conduction technology, you can head to the Renaissance period of the 14th to 17th century when it was first discovered. What we've done is brought the concept up to date with Bluetooth, super light materials, cutting edge battery technology, and innovative micro-electronic circuitry.

How do I wear the Conduit Motion™?

The headband should wrap around the back of your head, sit on your lower head near your neck, and loop over your ears. You want the volume control, recharge port, and the play and pause button on your right hand side.

Can I wear the Conduit Motion with a bike helmet, or glasses, or both?

Yes! The Conduit Motions is specifically designed to have a low profile fit, and the band sits near the base of the neck, which puts it our of the way of most helmets and helmet straps. Because the band is a secure fit with a low profile, most glasses will also fit over them. It was designed for use by cyclists with sunglasses/glasses, and some of our staff are hard core bikers.

We also have several clients who are skiers who've worn it underneath their helmets, yes, full ski helmets, with no problems. Of course, everyone's mileage will vary, but because of the ultra slim fit and profile, most people shouldn't have a problem with the Conduit Motion under bike, ski, snowboard, skateboard, or rollerblade helmets.

What types of mobile devices will the Conduit Motion™ work with?

Conduit Motion™ is equipped with Bluetooth® v4.1 and is compatible with all iOS and Android Bluetooth devices, including Apple and PC computers, smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Can Conduit Motion™ be worn while driving?

Yes and no. We advise you to check local laws on headphone use in cars, but Conduit Motion™ can be worn while driving in many states and countries. It is hands-free and the technology is designed to stay out of your ears, versus standard headphones which cover your ears. The situational awareness keeps you safer than standard headphones.

But, the problem is if law enforcement sees you wearing them, most of the time they don't care what it's designed for and what it can do. According to them, it can still be classified as a normal headphone. So check your local laws. Some states even ban headphones on bicycles. We are currently working with local bicycle advocacy groups to educate them about the benefits of these headphones versus normal headphones.

Are the Conduit Motion Water Resistant/Water Proof?

Conduit Motions™ are water resistant, not water proof. They are not recommended to be worn swimming. Running, biking, and walking in rain storms and monsoons are fine. Walking in a hurricane, while not recommended, should also be fine, though we think you'd have other things to worry about in a hurricane besides your Conduit Motions. And, while they are water and sweat resistant, we know of people who've worn them in the shower, despite us telling them not to do that. They still worked fine.

We also recommend that you wipe them down after a hard workout if you're going to share them. Being sanitary and not disgusting is the courteous thing to do...

Can I take phone calls with the Conduit Motion?

Yes! The Conduit Motion comes with a built in, noise cancelling microphone. And because they're Bluetooth, you can use them up to 30 feet away from your device. Phone calls will pause what ever you are playing, and you can then take the call.

How long does the battery last?

Average battery life is 6 to 8 hours per charge. It also depends on what you're playing. Some people get nine hours with playing just audio books, while normal music gets the average 6 to 8. It takes on average two hours to charge up the battery. The recharge port is a micro USB, which most Android smartphones come with.

How is the sound quality?

We actually got a re-known audio laboratory, Acoustic Directions, to help us in manufacturing our headphones. Here's what they have to say about it.
